Work has commenced on the manufacture of our new Europa IO aircraft!
Starting with a standard Europa monowheel airframe, registration N713PT, we are in the process of entirely stripping the aircraft of all components and removing all paint. This is done such that we can thoroughly inspect the airframe and flight hardware to ensure airworthiness of the completed project. With the majority of equipment and paint removed from the fuselage, initial inspections prove promising.
A mock-up of the modified undercarriage assembly has been fabricated. The monowheel is moved forward, through extending the four structural members which protrude into the fuselage. A test fit was completed, showing the monowheel is now capable of almost entirely retracting to within the fuselage!
Finally, with the centre tunnel removed from the Europa, seating position can be determined and design begin.
